The owner, Daniela, started her business several years ago by creating cork products. Everything began when her son had many allergies, and she didn’t want to use a synthetic bib for him. Daniela made a cork bib, and soon her friends started asking for the same. Seeing an opportunity, she began producing various cork items such as jewellery, handbags and decorations.

Her creations became popular, but after the pandemic, she noticed a decrease in interest in cork products and decided to transform her business. She had a great idea and began searching for products made in the Algarve to sell in her shop.

At Segredos do Algarve, you can find ceramics made in the village of Paderne, as well as Spicy Sauces Algarve Peppers, excellent sauces with a very natural flavour from peppers, produced and grown in the same village. The shop also offers various other products such as jams, biscuits, wines and more, all made locally.

You can also find here natural sea salts from the brand Marnoto with different additions, such as chilli, oregano or garlic, premium extra virgin olive oil, also called “liquid gold” from Quinta Danaé in Loulé, national cotton blankets available in various colours or handmade jewellery and soaps from Portuguese brand Afago, which uses products from the Algarve mountains.

Daniela still creates her own products, but as a mum of two, she doesn’t have a lot of spare time. However, as she says, nighttime is when she feels most creative. Daniela has a partnership with villas for holiday rent, preparing a basket with original Portuguese products as welcome gifts for the guests.

Daniela also owns another shop inside the Loulé market, which mainly features her cork products.

She also participates in markets across the Algarve. Every first Sunday of the month, she goes to the farmers market in Quinta do Lago, and normally on Saturdays, she attends the Ria market in Tavira.

Nowadays, Daniela employs several people. Her day usually starts in the shop at the market, and after lunch, she moves to her main shop, Segredos do Algarve, in the centre of Loulé.
