The tourist resort has four stars, four floors, 89 rooms and four spaces for business travel. In addition to traditional tourism, the company intends to invest in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference, Exhibitions) segment.

The Occidental Faro is the first hotel in Portugal under the Occidental Hotels & Resorts brand and the Spanish group's fourth hotel in the country, according to information shared on social media.

“It is also our first hotel in the Algarve, a strategic region in the south of Portugal due to its strong tourist demand throughout the year (especially during the summer months), pleasant climate and internationally renowned beaches,” says Barceló in a post on LinkedIn.

The Algarve hotel is the latest opening by the Barceló Group, following the acquisition and renovation of three four- and five-star hotels in Madeira in 2024 (Allegro Madeira, Barceló Funchal Oldtown and Quinta Funchal Gardens). According to the group, in addition to expanding its presence in Portugal, it contributes “to the economic and social development of the country and fostering partnerships with local suppliers”.
