The Irish airline stated that the new penalty is intended to serve as a deterrent, aiming to curb unacceptable conduct onboard.
“It is unacceptable for the passengers to experience unnecessary disruption because of the actions of a single unruly individual,” Ryanair said in a statement.
The airline has previously taken legal action against disruptive travelers and emphasised that it remains committed to doing so.
“To ensure our passengers and crew can have a comfortable and stress-free journey, we are introducing a £500 fine for anyone removed from a flight due to misconduct,” the statement added.
Last year, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary suggested that implementing alcohol restrictions at airports could help reduce incidents of disorderly behaviour onboard.
In addition to the new fine, Ryanair confirmed on Thursday, 12 June, that it will continue to seek civil damages from disruptive passengers.
They can actually do anything they want, their lobby is so powerful, even the EU let's them have their way. Very scary to watch this as a regular passenger.
