According to the IPMA, these two districts will be under a red warning from this morning until midnight on Monday.
The orange warning, the second most severe, has been extended until Monday in the districts of Viseu, Guarda, and Castelo Branco (currently in effect), and starting Sunday, Portalegre, Évora, and Beja will join them, due to persistently high maximum temperatures.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, was also extended until Monday on the North and Central coasts and in the districts of Santarém, Lisbon, Setúbal, and Faro, meaning that as of Sunday, no district in the country will be without heat warnings.
The government renewed the alert status in the country on Thursday until Wednesday, August 13, due to the risk of forest fires.
The renewal of the alert status is based on two main reasons: the continuation of high temperatures throughout the country in the coming days and the decrease in fires due to the established restrictions.
