Luís Montenegro stated that the project, which will operate under a public-private partnership, should begin construction in early 2027 and be operational in 2030.
"We will launch the international competition for the construction of the Algarve Central Hospital under a public-private partnership at the latest," Montenegro said.
For the Social Democratic leader, this procedure will allow "with all subsequent steps, the start of construction to correspond, more or less, to the beginning of 2027 and the hospital to become operational in 2030."
"We're talking about an investment of 800 million euros," he said.
Sure this is great news for the Algarve, but what about the hospital situation in Oeste. There are frequent ULS Oeste messages about no staff at several of the hospitals here, ie Torres Vedras, Peniche and Caldas da Rainha. How soon will the new hospital in Bombarral be built?
