Where the sea is shallow, small natural pools are created, making it perfect for families with kids. Many people take a morning walk from Praia da Galé to Praia dos Salgados, continuing on to Armação de Pera. I prefer to walk along the boardwalk from Praia da Galé through Praia Grande. The last part of the boardwalk was completed last year and it takes around one hour each way.
This beach consists of two parts: Galé West and Galé East. The Western part is larger, more open and stretches out for several kilometres. This part is ideal for watersports. The Eastern part is a smaller beach with beautiful rock formations. It is located close to Albufeira town, but this beach has a calmer vibe and more space than the beaches in town. On windy days, there can be a lot of waves with strong currents, so be careful if your children like to swim.

This beach is very convenient thanks to its easy access. There is a large parking area nearby, which still gets very full in summer, as well as several lifeguards and sunbed rentals. You can also rent a surfboard here or learn to surf with an instructor. There are three restaurants right on the beach and my favourite has always been Pedras Amarelas because of its nice views, delicious food, and good service.
Something unusual compared to the other beaches, at the entrance to Galé Beach is a kiosk, run by a local fruit seller. A lady who always has fresh fruit ready. Her figs and grapes are the best snack on the beach.
If you come during golden hour, you will see many people gathered at the top of the beach or just sitting in their cars in the parking slots along the beach, watching the sun go down. The sunset on this beach is simply stunning.
This part of Albufeira is very popular among the Portuguese people in the summer.
Every year in the summer months, a full moon party with a white dress code is organised on this beach. It used to be a small event organised by Pedras Amarelas in the past; now it´s hosted by the town of Albufeira, attracting a lot of people. It's not just a party for young people but also a family-friendly event, with a market on the side selling handicrafts from local artisans. Throughout the night, there are musical performances by different DJs. The event has been running for almost three decades and has helped liven up summer nights in the municipality.
