The "Algarve Pass," with a monthly cost of 40 euros, will be valid for all intercity lines and routes, regardless of the distance travelled or the number of transfers, with the exception of the "AeroBus" service, AMAL said in a statement.

The creation of the pass was approved this month by the AMAL Intermunicipal Council, an entity that brings together the region's 16 municipalities.

The measure comes as part of the funding provided by the Incentiva +TP program, aimed at promoting and incentivising public passenger transportation.

According to AMAL, the new pass "does not replace existing passes with lower prices," which will remain unchanged so as not to disadvantage those who only need shorter trips.

"The free passes, already in effect, will also be maintained for all young people," it emphasizes.

With this initiative, regional authorities aim to facilitate mobility, offer an economical and comfortable alternative to private transportation, and encourage the use of public transportation.

AMAL expects the "Algarve Pass" to be available for purchase starting Tuesday, the statement reads.

The name VAMUS was created by AMAL to name the Sustainable Urban Mobility project that took place in 2017.

In 2021, the name began to be used for the new public road passenger transport network in the Algarve region.
