According to the resolution, the €20.53 million in funding will be allocated in phases by the Government to AIMA, "for a period of 36 months, divided into four fiscal years, within the scope of the sociocultural mediation protocols signed and to be signed."
According to the decree published today, AIMA is "interested in the continuity of the 16 existing and current partnerships, as well as in establishing new partnerships with private entities, in matters relevant to the recruitment, retention, and integration of migrants, particularly with regard to sociocultural mediation."
The agency was created on October 29, 2023, following the dissolution of the High Commission for Immigration and the Foreigners and Borders Service.
Subsequently, some of the responsibilities related to the inspection and removal of foreigners were transferred to the newly created National Foreigners and Borders Unit within the PSP.
