The campaign, called "Donate to Teach and Save," aims to inform the public about the importance and process of donation.
"Because this is a sensitive topic, it is urgent to inform the public about its importance and, above all, about the ease and dignity of the entire process," emphasises a press release about the campaign launch.
In the initial phase, the campaign will be publicised on the social media channels of the participating institutions and later through the media.
The initiative is in collaboration with the Local Health Units associated with the Clinical Academic Center.
"The study of human bodies is fundamental to the advancement of medical science and the training of future healthcare professionals. Donation, under Portuguese law, is a simple process that must be formalised during life," the statement reads.
"The campaign is based on the importance of the legacy for future generations and the altruism inherent in donating a body for the education of medical students and other healthcare professionals".
All citizens can donate their bodies for teaching and scientific research purposes, enabling the training of healthcare professionals.
