This charming hotel has 12 rooms, eight of which are standard and four are suites. Guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the landscape, rural surroundings, a close connection with nature, and outdoor activities such as hiking, horse riding, picnics, and ecotourism.

Originally designed for adults only, the hotel has recently changed its concept and now welcomes all age groups, including families with children. Children up to 12 years old staying in their parents' room stay free of charge.


Three Concepts, One Estate

In the same area are located two other Vila Galé Hotels, Vila Galé Nep Kids and Vila Galé Alentejo Vineyards. With these three different yet complementary concepts, the estate offers a diversified experience across 1,620 hectares.

Guests at Monte do Vilar can enjoy the amenities of both sister hotels. It was a perfect combination for us, a couple with a 3-year-old son, to stay in the Monte do Vilar and be able to visit the amenities of Vila Galé Nep Kids and Vila Galé Alentejo Vineyards.


Nep Kids is perfect for children, featuring a swimming pool with slides, a kids club and an all-day animation programme. At the Vineyards, we visited the Quinta Pedagógica, where children can interact with and feed goats, sheep and other animals.

After an afternoon filled with activities, we returned to our hotel, Monte do Vilar, which offers a peaceful stay surrounded by beautiful nature. My son loved the large outdoor swimming pool and the big family wooden swing located in nature with panoramic views, located near the hotel.


Gastronomy – Local Flavours at Inévitavel

Breakfast at Monte do Vilar offers a great selection of everything, from pastries, yogurts, cereals, fruit, to a full English breakfast. A good coffee, fresh juices and lemonade are also available.

If you would like something lighter by the pool, the snack menu is available all day, featuring toasts, sandwiches and salads.

At the Inevitável restaurant, guests can enjoy the best of local cuisine, including sausages, cheeses, and regional wines. For dinner, you can choose between the à la carte menu or the buffet. Buffet costs €28 per person and children under age 4 don’t pay. The a la carte menu features meals such as shrimp risotto, octopus fillets, slow-cooked duck breast, or veal tenderloin. At the buffet, you can always find some meals from the a la carte menu, which have alterations daily. We opted for the buffet option, and it was a very delicious experience.


You can always complement your dining experience with a wine from their great selection. This property is ideal for wine tourism enthusiasts, thanks to its proximity to the vineyards and winery. Fidelio Bar is the perfect spot for a relaxing drink in the late afternoon.

If you are looking for the perfect spot for your event, the Monte do Vilar hotel has the ideal space for holding business meetings or for festive events. It offers rooms for meetings, congresses, team building actions, but also for weddings, christenings or parties.


Relaxation and Wellness – The Satsanga Spa & Wellness

Activities for all ages

Families can enjoy a wide variety of activities, including pony or donkey rides, pony workshops (brushing, gearing, and riding), carriage rides, horseback riding or an afternoon with horses. Another great option for a family afternoon is the Vila Galé picnic. The picnic basket includes a selection of drinks, pastries, cold cuts, and fruit. Perfect to soak in the beautiful weather while enjoying a delicious meal outdoors.

The estate also offers a visit to the Santa Vitória Winery, which includes a guided winery visit and a wine tasting. On Sundays, guests can take a tractor ride, and bicycles are also available (4 bikes on-site) for exploring the property at your own pace.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at Vila Galé Collection Monte do Vilar turned out to be the perfect balance between relaxation and family fun. We loved being surrounded by the peace and beauty of the Alentejo countryside, while still having the option to explore the activities and amenities at the nearby sister hotels.

In Monte do Vilar, we got the rest we needed, we could connect with nature and create amazing memories as a family. My son keeps asking me when we will go back, and I think it will be soon.
