According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius in the interior of the southern region, as well as in the Tagus and Douro valleys.

The Authority cites data from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), highlighting relative humidity below 30% in much of the territory, "with weak nighttime recovery."

A gradual increase in fire danger is expected, "with conditions favourable to the occurrence and spread of rural fires, as well as the increased difficulty of suppression actions, especially in the North, Centre, and Algarve regions," ANEPC warned in a statement. Burning and the use of fire for cooking are prohibited throughout rural areas, except outside critical areas and in locations duly authorized for this purpose.
