Portugal moved up one place in the FIFA rankings, surpassing Brazil, after the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, in which they thrashed Armenia 5-0 and beat Hungary 3-2, taking sole control of Group F.

The most significant change occurred at the top, with Spain rising to first place – a first since 2014 – displacing Argentina, which was also overtaken by France, the new second-place team.

Germany, which ranked ninth in the previous rankings, published on July 10, has been knocked out of the top 10, falling to 12th, allowing Croatia to rise to ninth and Italy to enter the top 10.
