The districts of Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, and Beja will be under a yellow warning between 3:00am and 3:00pm on Sunday.
The weather in mainland Portugal may be affected, starting on Saturday, by the passage of post-tropical depression Gabrielle, which has been affecting the Azores since Thursday.
Gabrielle, which is hitting the Azores, has weakened from a Category 1 hurricane to a post-tropical depression and is now heading towards the mainland. Rainfall accompanied by occasional thunderstorms is expected on Saturday along the west coast.
According to a statement from the IPMA (National Institute of Marine and Marine Sciences), based on the latest forecasts, it will move towards mainland Portugal as a post-tropical depression, which is expected to occur starting at 12:00 pm today.
"Therefore, starting late on the 27th [Saturday], periods of rain or showers are expected on the west coast, which may occasionally be accompanied by thunderstorms, extending to the rest of the territory, especially the center and south," the statement reads.
The IPMA added that, in addition, "increased wind intensity is expected in the highlands and along the coast, as well as rough seas."
