The minister stated, at a conference on the occasion of World Tourism Day in Tróia, Setúbal district, that he will bring AI to public administration to "ensure that decision-making times are accelerated" without compromising the "natural human presence at the end of the decision."

"This means, of course, that there is a reallocation of public administration workers from a phase of work with lower added value to a phase with higher added value," he added.

Gonçalo Matias also announced that he will "significantly streamline licensing procedures through prior notifications," using a "trust contract with citizens and businesses."

"Anyone wishing to start an activity, in principle, can generally do so without the need for a license. In those cases where a license is essential, tacit approval is provided for," the governor said. "This means that if the public administration does not respond within the deadline, authorization is considered granted," he added.

This new process methodology will be accompanied by "very strict accountability standards," as the trust contract, which begins with citizens and businesses and extends to public administration employees, naturally presupposes this accountability if the law is not followed."
