The first confirmed acts, revealed today by the organizers in a statement, also include Cape Verdean singer Djodje.

The lineup will also feature Nigerian singer Asake and American singer Mariah The Scientist, as well as Olamide, Niska, Awilo Longomba, Bien, Darkoo, and Young John, who will all perform on the Lit Stage, the festival's main stage.

The organizers also announced some names for the Piano stage – Madumane, Amaroto, Mellow & Sleazy, Lee McKrazy, Zee Nxumalo, and Mawhoo – and that the festival will have a new stage, Afrotronic, dedicated to Afro House, Afrotech, and Amapiano sounds.

In its first edition in Portugal, in 2019, Afro Nation welcomed over 25,000 people, mostly from the United Kingdom. In 2020 and 2021, the festival was cancelled due to restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it returned in 2022.

Afro Nation only allows admission to those over 18 years of age, and "identification" is required to prove age, according to information available on the festival's website.

The 5th edition of the festival, which took place between July 9th and 11th this year in Praia da Rocha, featured performances by more than 30 artists, including Mary J. Blige, Burna Boy, Tems, Booba and Davido.
