Sintra has just received the new STIHL Portugal facility, a 2,300-square-meter (m2) building, located on a 17,200 m2 plot of land, and home to one of the brand's largest training centres in Europe, with the capacity to train over 500 professionals annually.
The German family-owned company invested 10 million euros in these facilities, which also house its second global showroom and the largest in Europe, with a 280 m2 display area, housing over 200 machines and approximately 200 accessory models. The building will soon also include an outdoor training centre and host events and school visits, strengthening its connection with the community and its stakeholders, according to a report by idealista.
The inauguration of this space took place on September 20th, attended by Michael Traub, Chairman of the STIHL Executive Board, and Karen Tebar, a member of the STIHL family, among other global representatives. During the event, the brand's global strategy for the coming years was announced, with plans to enter mass distribution in several markets, including Portugal. This decision follows the successful strategy implemented in France, Poland, and Germany.
In Portugal, STIHL currently has 230 points of sale and 180 dealerships. Juvenal Martins, General Manager of STIHL Portugal, explained in a statement that "these new facilities represent a turning point in STIHL's history" in the country, emphasizing the "enormous pride" in "having a leading training center in Europe and a unique model showroom," which allows the company to strengthen its proximity to customers and partners.
"With this infrastructure, we are now able to grow sustainably, invest even more in the qualifications of professionals in the sector, and strengthen STIHL's role as a market leader in Portugal," adds the executive.
Operating in Portugal for 27 years and a market leader for over 20 years, the German company, whose main business areas are forestry, agriculture, and urban areas, expects to exceed 30 million euros in revenue this year.
Fast growth
"Portugal is currently one of the fastest-growing subsidiaries in Europe, and this investment is proof of STIHL's confidence in this market and in local talent. We are strengthening our presence, creating conditions to further support national professionals, and clearly making a long-term commitment: investing in innovation, training, and service. We are certain that Portugal will continue to be an important pillar in STIHL's future," concludes the General Manager of STIHL Portugal.
Designed by the Spanish firm Arditécnica and built by the Portuguese firm Planirest, this STIHL project is a strong focus on sustainability, featuring 80 solar panels that are responsible for generating over 60% of its energy consumption. The building also features energy-efficient LED lighting systems, heat pump air conditioning, an external solar control system, reinforced thermal insulation, high-performance windows, and natural light utilization throughout.
