Since Sunday, the European Entry and Exit System (EES) has been operational, requiring registration and biometric data collection for non-EU citizens. There are several reports of long lines on social media, and the PSD acknowledged to Lusa that wait times exceeding 90 minutes were reported. ANA told ECO that "wait times have significantly reduced".

The RAPID electronic system, which allows for automatic border control procedures, is already functioning properly, and PSP resources have been increased, according to ECO.

On Tuesday, the concessionaire told Lusa news agency that RAPID had been experiencing "functioning problems" and criticized the Internal Security System (SSI), responsible for the new process.

"The technical and coordination challenges of this development cannot, however, overlook the need for these entities to guarantee passengers a maximum waiting time at the border, similar to the service levels required for processes under ANA's responsibility," it noted.
