"This hospital will be a reference hospital, both for the clinics we already have in the Aveiro district and for supporting all the expansion that the Trofa Saúde group plans to undertake in the coming years here in the region," said Bruno Gomes, CEO of the Trofa Saúde group, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospital.

According to the same manager, the new unit will offer 24-hour care for adults and children, a surgical center with three operating rooms, 100 inpatient beds, 100 consulting rooms and nursing services, clinical analysis and endoscopy, and support from an imaging centre equipped with cutting-edge technology, including MRI, CT, mammography, and ultrasound.

“With the Trofa Saúde Hospital in Aveiro, we will continue and differentiate the excellent healthcare we already provide in this region," said Bruno Gomes, adding that the new unit represents an investment of approximately 80 million euros and will create 400 jobs.

Currently, the Trofa Saúde group has 23 hospitals and clinics across the country, having treated over 750,000 people last year and performed more than two million consultations and over 20,000 surgeries.

On the same occasion, the mayor of Aveiro, Ribau Esteves, expressed his hope that the construction of this new private hospital will address the "enormous shortage" in healthcare services.

"The supply we have today, for example, is very limited, and therefore, the arrival of Trofa Saúde is a great blessing for us. We fought hard for this and are very happy to see the project come to fruition," the mayor emphasized.

Ribau Esteves also expressed his hope that this private investment, which he considered the most important in recent years, will also inspire and encourage the government to move forward with the expansion and improvement of Aveiro Hospital, criticizing the "absurd inertia" of previous governments that "have been pushing things forward."
