On its website, the city hall informs that the measure is taken “as a precaution and to safeguard the safety of people and property” and that traffic will be restored “as soon as sea conditions permit.”
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued an orange warning for all districts of mainland Portugal, except Bragança, for this Wednesday due to heavy rain.
For Thursday, the IPMA also issued an orange warning for the northern and central districts due to rough seas.
Between 00:00 and 09:00 on Thursday, waves from the west/northwest are expected with a significant wave height of 5 to 6 metres, potentially reaching a maximum height of 9 metres.
