The event consolidates Monte Gordo "as a benchmark destination for international competitions in this modality" and promises to bring "thousands of spectators, lots of adrenaline and exciting races" to the beach, says the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António in a statement.

The Monte Gordo Sand Race, held on a six-kilometre track, is organised in partnership between the VRSA City Hall and the ACP (Automobile Club of Portugal) and brings together the best riders in the discipline.

The race will begin on November 28 with administrative and technical checks at Praça Marquês de Pombal, in Vila Real de Santo António.

In terms of sporting events, the competition includes two races on Saturday: one for motorcycles lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, and another for quad bikes lasting one hour.

On Sunday, two more races will be held: one for motorcycles lasting one hour, and another for quad bikes lasting 45 minutes.

This year, for the first time, there will be two competitions aimed at younger Yamaha motorcycle owners between 8 and 16 years old.

In addition to the races, the Monte Gordo Sand Race will feature a diverse entertainment program offering activities for all ages.

Entry to the event is free and will offer ideal conditions for the public to watch the races and enjoy an exciting experience alongside the track.

The competition "attracts thousands of spectators and boosts the local economy and tourism," emphasises the VRSA city hall.
