The fair in honour of São Martinho has been happening since 1662, and it usually happens around the day of São Martinho, 11 November, in Portimão.

Find the greatest products

In this autumn event, which happens in Portimão, visitors may find and acquire different types of products at the fair. There are a variety of agricultural products for sale, from seed to plant and biological fruits and vegetables, that are grown in local farmers’ yards.

Products for the home are also available, with tableware and different pans to be sold for the kitchen. But bedsheets and other textile products for rooms and bathrooms are also available. Locals usually wait for the fair to buy these products, as they are of good quality.

Clothing is also available, and people really enjoy buying not only loungewear, such as pyjamas, but also underwear, which is made available for a reduced price, maintaining the good quality of the fabric. Unusual, but still beautiful, patterns may also be found, making the products appealing to all tastes.

Besides the exhibitors, where housing and clothing products may be found, there are also food trucks and even restaurants at the fair. Expect to enjoy great Portuguese food from the streets, or aim for a proper restaurant with tables and waiters, which will make visitors forget that it is a fair. Delicacies like chorizo bread, bifanas and farturas can be found along the fair and not necessarily in the food court area.

However, the lead role must be given to the castanhas assadas (roasted chestnuts). There will be a roaster on every corner, and its scent will be felt right at the entrance of the fair. The price may vary, but usually visitors will pay €2 for a dozen chestnuts.

Fun for all

Children, and possibly some grown-ups, will enjoy the rides in the carousels located in the entertainment area of the fair. Expect adrenaline in exciting rides like Kanguru, or even moments of tension while trying to escape being bumped in the well-known bumper cars. Visitors must keep in mind that loud music is expected in this area of the fair, providing the entertainment vibe we all look for.

Easy access

The fair takes place in Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Portimão, where the Portimão Arena is located, next to Gare Rodoviária de Portimão. Parking lots are made available at the north and south entrances of the fair. One in front of Portimão Arena (north), and the other in Zona Ribeirinha (south), where it is possible to enter through the gate by the railway bridge. Access can be done by car, but the municipal bus “Vai e Vem” has direct access to the fair facilities.

The event is currently running until 16 November 2025.
