“We have 80% [participation] in all public administration services,” said the director of the National Federation of Independent Unions of Public Administration and Public Entities (Fesinap).

According to Mário Rui, a new assessment will be made in the mid-afternoon.

“Now, we are just waiting for 3pm, which is the shift rotation at the hospitals, to see what the final participation rate will be,” he maintained.

The strike, which is taking place with minimum services, encompasses workers from all careers in public administration, both general and specialised, and affects all sectors, including hospitals, schools, and private social solidarity institutions (IPSS).

Public administration workers are protesting against the labour package presented by the Government.

The reasons for the 24-hour strike are the immediate withdrawal of the proposed labour reform, a request for an urgent meeting with the Government regarding the "Work XXI" reform, an end to union discrimination practiced by the executive branch, and the effective participation of Fesinap (the Federation of Public Administration Workers) in labour negotiations.
