According to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee's ruling, to which Lusa had access, the 40-year-old player was sanctioned with a three-match ban after being sent off with a straight red card in the defeat in the Republic of Ireland (2-0) on November 13, in the fifth and penultimate round of Group F of European qualification for the World Cup.
Ronaldo served his suspension three days later, missing the match against Armenia (9-1) in Porto, which secured the national team's ninth and seventh consecutive appearance in the main international competition for national teams, before FIFA reviewed the Portuguese Football Federation's (FPF) argument to prevent the striker from being suspended for more than one match, following his first expulsion after 226 call-ups.

Ronaldo, as usual, is the ego-centric, pulling a stupid stunt as if he were aggrieved.
How dare that Irishman treat me that way! He needs to grow the hell up. The team, with its abundance of talent and Ronaldo's presence, continues to hold it back from finding its identity and cohesiveness going forward, and he is like a guest who is not smart enough to leave the party when he should. I hope Portugal advances in the World Cup, and I hope Ronaldo pushes himself to track back and defend as well, you know, for something completely different, but that is what the modern game is all about. He deserves the full three-game ban. Well, boys and girls, this is your hero and role model?
Just a thought. Viva Portugal!
