According to Meteored, a website specialising in meteorology, the worsening of the weather will be particularly evident on Friday, when significant accumulations are expected, some exceeding 40 millimetres, especially in the interior of the territory.

Meteorological models point to a rapid change in the atmospheric pattern, with dense clouds, heavy rain, thunderstorms and snow in the highest points of the Serra da Estrela.

Friday morning marks the full entry of the cold front into the country, with rain spreading from west to east. According to the publication, the rain may be heavy at various times, becoming showers in the afternoon, first on the coast and then inland.

The most significant downpours should be concentrated in five regions: Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora and Beja. In these districts, Meteored indicates values between 25 and 42 millimetres of precipitation, among the highest of the week. There is still a possibility of storms in the Central and Southern regions, associated with greater atmospheric instability and the presence of cold air at altitude.

Regarding snow, everything indicates that it will be limited to the highest points of the Serra da Estrela mountain range and the mountains of the far north.

In the early hours of Saturday, the depression will already be moving south and may still bring showers to the southern regions before moving away towards the Moroccan area.

From Saturday onwards, a considerable improvement in weather conditions is expected. Meteored anticipates an anticyclonic Saturday and Sunday, with partly cloudy or clear skies and morning fog in various parts of the country.
