In a statement, the Franco-Dutch group reacted to the government's announcement that it meets the requirements to move forward in the process, along with IAG and Lufthansa, as part of the privatization of the national airline.
"The Group reiterates its strong interest in TAP and looks forward to the next steps, namely the submission of a non-binding offer by the end of the first quarter of 2026," says Air France-KLM.
According to the group, Air France-KLM airlines have served Portugal since 1940 and currently operate more than 600 weekly flights to five destinations in the country.
Through the acquisition of a stake in TAP, Air France-KLM intends to "further increase its contribution to the Portuguese economy and create value for TAP and the country," the statement adds.
The Government announced that it has concluded the pre-qualification phase of the TAP privatization and has mandated Parpública to send out invitations for non-binding proposals starting January 2nd, with a deadline of April 2nd.
The tender notice foresees the sale of up to 44.9% of TAP's capital, with 5% reserved for employees, and any unsubscribed stake subject to the right of first refusal of the future buyer.
