On the social network X, formerly Twitter, the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, stated that both he and the President of the Republic are “focused on the future and the reestablishment of a full democracy where Venezuelans freely choose their future.

“Having not recognized the results of the 2024 elections, we take note of the statements and guarantees of President Donald Trump and see the role of the USA in promoting a stable, peaceful, democratic and inclusive transition in Venezuela as quickly as possible,” he added.
Luís Montenegro also highlighted that the government has been "constantly monitoring the situation in Venezuela from the very beginning, paying particular attention to the safety and well-being" of the Portuguese community, and that the Portuguese embassy in Caracas and the consulates in the country "are fully mobilized to support" Portuguese citizens.
At the meeting with the President of the Republic, Montenegro was accompanied by the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel.
