During the ceremonies, individuals residing in 18 counties on the island of Ireland and representing 138 different countries were granted Irish citizenship.

“Citizenship ceremonies are wonderful celebrations where we welcome our newest citizens on this milestone in their lives,” said Ireland';s Minister of Justice Helen McEntee in a statement prior to the ceremony.

According to Ireland's Department of Justice, new Irish immigrants offer a variety of skills and talents that improve the labour markets and the country's economy's overall potential.

They also contribute to a workforce that is inclusive and varied. 1,200 people received Irish citizenship at two ceremonies held in Dublin in February.

6,000 candidates were invited to six different events in the Dublin Convention Centre in December 2023 to gain Irish citizenship.

Since its introduction in 2011, there have been 175 Irish citizenship ceremonies held in Ireland.

The Department of Justice in Ireland estimates that since 2011, some 176,000 persons have been granted Irish citizenship.

This number includes minors who are exempt from attending ceremonies, as well as participants in the February 2024 ceremonies and applicants who obtained citizenship through the Declaration procedure instituted in reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It was announced by Minister McEntee in October of last year that anyone may now apply online for Irish citizenship.
