The event takes place at Parque Verde da Ribeira de Aljezur and today (Saturday), will feature a themed fair where plant material artisans, nurserymen, florists, local producers and a program of workshops and lectures will be present.
On the Sunday, the day is filled with nature walks.
Defending principles of sustainability and protection and conservation of nature, the event begins with a diverse program that, according to the organization, continues to highlight “the rich natural heritage of the region”.
Participants will have the opportunity to attend practical workshops on how to make paints from plants and plant remains, on distilling plants, how to care for their gardens, or even how to plan a dry garden adapted to the conditions of the region.
“More than entertainment, the Plant Festival carries a message of environmental awareness. Presentations on the preservation of the juniper grove and coastal dunes, the workshops and tours mentioned aim to show how the community can protect and sustainably use the region's resources".
Access is free, but the routes are guided and, therefore, some workshops require prior registration due to limited spaces.
