Year after year, we’ve watched wildfires devastate the place we call home. Families lose everything in a matter of hours, forests and farmland vanish, and entire communities are left in ashes. This summer has already been one of the worst in recent memory, with more than 75,000 hectares destroyed — nine times more than at this point last year.
At the heart of it all are the Bombeiros — our everyday heroes, and 90 percent of them are volunteers. They leave their own families behind to fight day and night, often with little rest, limited resources, and not nearly enough protective gear. They don’t do it for recognition; they do it because they care. And without them, so much more would already be lost.
That’s why we’re running. For us, this isn’t just a physical challenge — it’s a promise. A promise that we see their sacrifice, that we care, and that we will do what we can to keep them safe while they work to keep us safe.
We’re asking our community to join us. If you can donate a few euros, it will go directly towards providing the protective gear and equipment the Bombeiros urgently need. If you can’t, even sharing our fundraiser helps us reach someone who can. Every little bit truly makes a difference.
Together, we can give back to the heroes who give us everything. 💛

Please don't volunteer to be a firefighter, this only happens in Portugal and it is absurd. There's a fine line between good-hearted people and plain stupidity. They need special careers, with competitive remuneration to fight Portugal's annual calamity more seriously.
