According to his wife, Carlos was also known for his kindness, being ready to help every friend in need, whether it was for lending money or cars. His wife even stated that, if he could not help the person in need, Carlos would make every effort to find someone else that could do it.

Long marriage

Carlos was married for 41 years to his wife. They met when they were 18 years old, when his wife’s father bought a bar in Carvoeiro. The love between them flourished and Carlos was a “good husband and a good family man”, known for his sense of responsibility and kindness.

Proud (grand)father

With three sons and eight grandchildren, Carlos could not be any prouder of the family he built. His eldest son has even followed his steps in the business, and is now the owner of one of the garages Carlos owned. This way, he is following the legacy that Carlos already followed from his father, as well.

The nickname

Although he did not always appreciate it, because he was a very funny and entertaining man, from a very young age, Carlos was known as “Reguila” by the community. His wife mentioned that there were so many stories that could possibly lead to the nickname. One of them being the moment when he entered inside a bar riding his motorcycle, putting on a great show.

Greatest passion

Besides cherishing and loving his family and friends, Carlos was really passionate about cars. Even though he dealt with cars every day in his job, he would never get tired of it. Carlos had a passion for classic cars, participating in rallies like the Algarve Classic Cars.

Loved by the community

Carlos was love by everyone who met him, the foreign community was really close to him and to what he did, constantly being called by the lady clients of the garage, as “my dear”, as his wife pointed out laughing.

Paying homage

Unfortunately, this lovely and much-loved man passed away on 24 August, and the municipality of Lagoa could not be any sadder. His funeral will take place on 5 September, at 10:30 am, in Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagoa, located in Rua Vermelha, next to the traditional market.

The family is not accepting flowers, but asks people, if they can, to donate any amount to an association that is located in the Algarve. Those who cannot be present or prefer to may donate their amount at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/carlos-soares
