This unique event celebrates the start of the gardening year and is dedicated to making beautiful and sustainable Mediterranean gardens with minimum water use.

A rich programme of free talks and demonstrations is in preparation for the dedicated covered talks area. The keynote presentation on Saturday 18 October is on “How to get rid of your lawn”, other topics include Salvias for Algarve Gardens, Bokashi composting and Edible Trees. As usual, there will be free advice on how to create and maintain your garden sustainably into the future with the theme of Celebrating the new Gardening Year.

Autumn is the best time to buy your garden plants and the best time to do your planting, giving time for the all-important development of root systems during the more humid months of autumn and winter. The event is organised by a not-for-profit Association dedicated to promoting best practice in landscaping and gardens on the Algarve. The Mediterranean Garden Association is dedicated to education and run entirely by volunteers. We could not hold this event without the help we received from our members and friends. There will be various displays and available for sale a very distinct selection of plants suitable for Algarve gardens.

Native plants and seeds from specialised suppliers will be available, as well as ornamental, water lilies and aromatic plants. The Fair will have sales and advice on fruit and garden trees, and a wonderful range of succulents for both the garden and containers. New for this year will be the chance to buy heritage vegetable and herb seeds together with seedlings to go into your garden. This is an opportunity to buy the most suitable plants for your garden and benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced nursery owners, growers, speakers and MGAP members.

The venue has ample free car parking. As usual, it will be possible to pre-order plants from growers for collection during the event. Full details of exhibitors and updates will be available on our website and Facebook page.
