This will also be the 59th edition of the women's event, reinforcing the role of the sport in the national sports scene.

The competition will take place in the Parchal Urban Park, the same course that, a few weeks later, on December 13 and 14, will host the European Cross Country Championships.

The National Cross Country Championships provide an opportunity for young talents and established names in the sport to meet, bringing together athletes from all over the country in an environment of competition, learning, and celebration of running in its natural state. Over the two days, Lagoa will host:

- Championships for all levels, from juniors to seniors and under-23s.

- National Veterans Championships, on Saturday the 22nd.

- National Adapted Athletics Championships.

More than 1100 athletes have registered, including approximately 325 veterans on Saturday and 780 elite athletes on Sunday, representing the best national clubs.
