"This is another opportunity to promote and simultaneously increase the attractiveness of Madeira," said Eduardo Jesus, the regional secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Culture.

The minister indicated that there was an increase of €46,000 in the event's programming compared to 2024, especially in the cultural component, with a total of 57 shows and performances, including three theatrical performances.

The 2025 Madeira Wine Festival begins on Sunday with the opening of the 20th European Folklore Week, featuring a variety of national and international groups. On Thursday, the Madeira Wine Lounge – a food and leisure space – opens to the public in Praça do Povo, Funchal, with 12 regional producers in attendance.

Another highlight, scheduled for September 13th, is the live grape harvest in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, followed by an allegorical procession in the parish center, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, the largest producer of Madeira wine.

The event's organization involves more than 1,400 people, and activities are scheduled in several municipalities in the autonomous region.

On August 14th, the Madeira Government announced that it estimates grape production of 2,920 tons this year, a 9.6% decrease compared to 2024, due to weather conditions.

On the other hand, in April, the executive reported that Madeira wine sales fell by 18.1% in quantity and 7.3% in value in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2024.

According to data from the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Crafts Institute (IVBAM), Madeira wine sales "did not exceed 646,500 litres in the first quarter of 2025, which translated into first-sale revenue of €4.4 million."
