“In the municipality of Loulé, the ULS is making organisational decisions that will allow a family doctor to be assigned to approximately 10,000 more citizens by the end of 2025”, said Tiago Botelho, during his speech at the inauguration ceremony of the Loulé University Health Center.
According to Sul Informação, the official explained that there are “approximately 12 thousand” people without a family doctor “from Loulé to the north”, while in the areas of Almancil and Boliqueime, this number “reaches 8 thousand”.
And it is precisely in Almancil, said the president of ULS/Algarve, that work is “already being done”, with the placement of a doctor in the Personalized Health Care Unit, “through a vacancy for a deprived area”, which will serve around 1,900 patients.
In addition, Tiago Botelho revealed, the USF Mãe Soberana will be created, which, for now, will begin operating “in the surroundings” of the new health building in Loulé, “probably in containers”.
The USF Mãe Soberana “will start up soon, with more doctors than we currently have here in the municipality and, with this, we will be able to, in fact, eliminate the under-coverage of family doctors in Loulé”, explained the director. This new unit will serve more than 8,000 users.
In the future, the USF Mãe Soberana “will be installed in the so-called Loulé Health Park, with its own building”, assured the president of the ULS/Algarve.
