According to the company's official website, service was "normal" on all lines at 10:40am. The company had previously announced that it planned to resume service only at 10:30 a.m., following the strike.
Workers decided to continue the partial strikes scheduled for today and Thursday after a plenary meeting held Monday night in which the proposals presented by the company were rejected.
The strike was scheduled from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM for operations workers, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM for workshop workers, from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM for fixed and administrative workers, and from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM for night and track workers.
As reported by the Lisbon Metro, the arbitration tribunal did not decree minimum service requirements for these partial strikes.
Among the workers' demands are an increase in meal vouchers, vacation and Christmas bonuses, and changes to the maximum weekly work week.
After an inconclusive plenary meeting held on Monday afternoon, the workers met again at 11:30 PM and decided to reject the company's proposal, said Sara Gligó of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).
The representative then said that today's partial strike would take place and that the strike scheduled for Thursday remained open: "It depends on the company presenting a proposal, but expectations are low."
In a statement, the Lisbon Metro regretted that the partial strike declared by the workers' representative organizations had not been suspended.
"The company did everything possible to avoid these strikes and remains committed to continuing negotiations with the workers to resolve these differences," it said.
According to the transport company, "two negotiation proposals were presented, based on principles previously established in the 2023 Company Agreement, seeking to respond to the demands presented with balance, responsibility, and respect for the company's sustainability limits and in accordance with the unions' demands."
Sara Gligó had said Monday afternoon that the unions had met with the Lisbon Metro management, which "reiterated the proposal previously presented."
The Lisbon Metro operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião).
