According to DN, the strike aims to address demands such as an end to base wages below the national minimum wage, better wages, compliance with night shift pay, and maintaining access to the parking lot under the same terms and conditions "that have always been applied to them."
The union is also demanding compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed following Menzies's takeover of the former Groundforce, which provided for salary increases through 2026 and the payment of over €2.5 million, in addition to other measures agreed upon as part of the company's bankruptcy approval process.
The strike is expected to affect all Portuguese airports, the union estimates, stating that the first strike period will take place between midnight on July 25th and midnight on July 28th, that is, between a Friday and the following Monday. The same is expected to occur during the last four weekends of August.
The union adds that, despite the strike, workers will ensure the necessary services for the safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
And my first trip to Portugal is happening during a strike. Awesome. I love TAP’s advice: ‘don’t bring checked luggage’. Honey, you need to pack for 10 days in a euro size carry on. lol.

If you are staying in an apartment, they have washing machines, good hotels have very good laundry facilities. I would do anything to avoid the endless queues. Good Luck.

Menzies came to Ireland many years ago .Under Irish law the refused to recognize SSiptu a strong Irish union and all their contracts were under UK laws. The lads stood strong with the help of a great union organizer and slowly pulled them into negotiations. Terms and conditions are getting worse for some reason and your not only standing up for yourselves your standing up for the kids of tomorrow. They need your strength now.
