Dozens of rare works by Dutch artist M.C. Escher sold for around €6.7 million at a Christie’s online auction in New York, with several pieces fetching up to four times their projected value.

Among the highlights was “Relativity”, which sold for nearly €500,000, and “Day and Night”, soaring from a €30,000 estimate to €140,000.
In total, the auction house sold 65 pieces by the graphic artist, who was born in Leeuwarden in 1898 and died in 1972.
