This resulted in the collection of 1,900 kg of trash, "an unprecedented amount in the association's activities."
Various types of plastic and fishing gear, including nets, safety nets, and buoys, general trash, large objects such as a degraded motorcycle, tires, and a significant amount of rope were among the items collected by the volunteers.
"The amount of waste collected is a sign of the scale of the problem that continues to affect riverside areas," said Teia d'Impulsos.
"The levels of trash accumulation are high, which reinforces the need to increasingly involve the community in conscious and responsible practices. "It is essential to continue raising awareness about the impact of individual behavior on the environment and the importance of preserving local ecosystems," the association adds.
This action took place on a day of double celebration, taking place during the week of International Coastal Cleanup Day, a celebration promoted by the Oceano Azul Foundation, and simultaneously forming an integral part of the Municipality of Portimão's programming for World Tourism Day.
The Arade Azul project's main mission is to raise environmental awareness and mobilize the population to address the issue of marine litter, and it will continue developing similar initiatives.
The next one is already scheduled for November 16th, and Teia D'Impulsos invites the entire community.
This action was supported by the Portimão City Council, the Portimão Tourism Association, EMARP, and Ageas.
