The seriously injured person is an 87-year-old man, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Faro unit of the Local Health Unit (ULS) with polytrauma. Two other victims, classified as less serious, were also admitted: a 77-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man.
In addition to these, there are three victims with no indication of serious injuries, transferred to the hospital from the Basic Emergency Service (SUB) of Albufeira: a 59-year-old man and two other victims, whose age is unknown, who were discharged early Saturday afternoon.
According to the same source, the authorities continue to monitor the clinical evolution of the victims who remain under hospital care. The meteorological phenomenon that hit Albufeira at 10:07 am on Saturday caused the death of an 85-year-old British citizen and injured 28 people of Portuguese, Spanish, French, and British nationality, according to Civil Protection.
The strong wind caused significant damage to the Albufeira campsite and a tourist resort, and damage to structures and multiple fallen trees were also reported in Lagoa and Silves.
