On Monday, Lisbon was named Europe’s “Best Cruise Destination” at the World Cruise Awards held in Jamaica, securing the title for the third time—following wins in 2021 and 2024—according to the Lisbon Port Authority (APL).

The Portuguese capital outperformed other nominees in the category, including Funchal, Athens (Greece), Barcelona (Spain), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Monte Carlo (Monaco), Nice (France), Rome (Italy), Oslo (Norway), and Southampton (England).

In a statement, the APL noted that the award recognises the efforts of professionals and entities involved in the cruise tourism sector, as well as the hospitality of Lisbon’s residents.

“This award is the result of the dedication and commitment of everyone working within Lisbon’s cruise ecosystem—who strive daily to provide unique and memorable experiences for visitors—and the hospitality of the people of Lisbon. Lisbon is increasingly establishing itself as a destination of excellence that is competitive, innovative, and sustainable,” the statement read.

The World Cruise Awards were established in 2021 to recognise excellence and innovation in the international cruise industry.

This honour comes in the same year that the Lisbon Cruise Terminal was nominated for Europe’s Best Cruise Terminal for the sixth consecutive year.
