Carnival is ritual, inversion, and celebration… it’s pure festivity. And where there’s festivity, there’s music.

That’s why, on Carnival Sunday, the musicians of the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra always dress for the occasion to perform some of the most spirited and recognizable pages of the symphonic repertoire. The tailcoats stay at home — or perhaps not, who knows?

Colorful wigs, oversized glasses, feathers, streamers, party blowers, and confetti might also make their way onto the stage.
