In a statement, the Alentejo 2030 Management Authority announced that the applications relate to the call for tenders “Material actions to adapt to climate change - ITI Water and Landscape Ecosystems - Algarve and Alentejo”.

The application period runs from 30 June to 6 pm on 30 September this year, according to the statement.

The tender has an indicative budget of €2.7 million, 85% of which is co-financed by the ERDF - European Regional Development Fund.

“The main objective of this call for tenders is to increase the resilience and reduce the vulnerabilities of the territory in the face of climate change,” said the managing authority.

It also aims to promote “the deepening of knowledge and the dissemination of information on its effects and impacts, in accordance with the European Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.”

The actions to be supported should be integrated into the Action Plan of the ITI Water and Landscape Ecosystems Strategy - Algarve and Alentejo.

The Alentejo 2030 Programme will consider eligible interventions that involve the creation of green areas with vegetation resistant to drought, heat waves and rising temperatures in urban areas, or that focus on the development of decision support tools and the dissemination of good practices, including information and modelling systems.

The other eligible type covers communication, dissemination, education and awareness-raising actions on the risks associated with climate change and the respective adaptation measures.

The call for tenders is open to applications submitted by central government entities, municipalities or associations of municipalities.

Other public or non-profit associations may also apply, provided that there are protocols or forms of cooperation with the regional coordination and development commissions (CCDR) or with intermunicipal entities.
