According to data from Eurostat, the EU statistics office, Portugal recorded an increase of 4%.
At the sectoral level, the market recorded more significant increases. In the Eurozone, costs grew by 3.8% in the construction (4.7%) and services (4.3%) sectors. In the EU, the panorama is similar. Market sectors grew by 4.4%, with sharp increases in construction (5.2%) and services (4.7%). Among the sectors with the highest wage increases are professional, scientific and technical activities (7.4%) and real estate (6.1%).

When it comes to non-wage costs, professional, scientific (6.2%) and construction (5.5%) activities led the increase. On the other hand, electricity and gas supply recorded the smallest variation (1.1%). Eastern European countries led the most significant increases.
In contrast, Malta (1.6%) and France (1.9%) had the smallest increases. In Portugal and Italy, the variation was around 4%, in line with the European average.
