In a statement, the Alto Alentejo ULS indicated that the health centers in Alter do Chão, Arronches, Avis, Campo Maior, Castelo de Vide, Elvas, Fronteira, Gavião, Monforte, Ponte de Sor, Portalegre, and Sousel will be targeted for renovation.
The project "aims to improve the physical and functional conditions of the units, promoting energy efficiency, accessibility, safety, and comfort for users and professionals," the ULS stated.
The diversity of the planned projects, the institution added, "reflects the concern" with adapting each space to the specific needs of the community it serves.
The work to be carried out includes replacing doors, repairing roofs, creating new offices, providing and installing directional and informational signage, and acquiring essential equipment, among other things.
"These interventions aim not only to modernize infrastructure but also to ensure more welcoming and functional environments, enhancing the quality of healthcare provided," the statement read.
The investment, according to the Alto Alentejo Health Unit (ULS), represents a "significant step" in enhancing the primary care network in the region and "reinforces the commitment" to the continuous improvement of healthcare services.
