Operating in the country since 2016, the multinational currently has 33 stores nationwide and employs 300 people.

"Portugal is a key market for us, and over the next three years we hope to reach 25 stores in Portugal, opening approximately eight per year, resulting in an annual investment of approximately four million euros," Carlos Haba, director of Jysk in Portugal and Spain, told ECO.

Since entering Portugal in 2016, the Danish group says it has already invested nearly 20 million euros, with Jysk's director for the Iberian markets estimating an investment of 16.5 million euros in opening new stores and three million euros in remodelling nine of these spaces.

In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Jysk's revenue in Portugal reached a record 44.9 million euros, representing a 27.2% increase compared to the previous year. "EBIT recorded remarkable growth of 150.9%, reaching €2.3 million, consolidating the brand's strong performance in the Portuguese market," explains Carlos Haba.

In its expansion plan, the Nordic group emphasised that it expects to "reach 300 stores in Spain and Portugal by 2028, which will translate into 100 more stores and approximately 1,000 more jobs."
