The Church has two services on a Sunday, one at 9.30 that is in English only and started in January 2026 to accommodate the ever-increasing congregation numbers. Then there is another service at 11am that is in English and Portuguese with translations.

Pastor Brian, a South African who spends time in both England and South Africa, is a visitor to the Algarve. He was very impressed with Sunday´s service as was I. There were some familiar faces in the congregation, notably Graham and Daphne Rowan, who are both great supporters of Church of the Week, having contributed articles previously.

We all got talking with Pastor Brian after the service about his work helping women in dire need in South Africa. He provides holistic and pastoral care to these ladies in a home to help them prepare to re-enter society. Pastor Brian and his team restored the property in 2021, but now the landlord is looking to auction the property at the end of April, so as to keep this halfway house, The Portugal News asked him to write about it in the hope that some funds could be raised through our Algarve readers.
