The practical training, scheduled for 5pm, is designed to teach members of the public how to recognise cardiac arrest, alert the emergency services and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until professional help arrives.

This session will also include interpretation and adaptation into Portuguese Sign Language to ensure it is accessible to a wider audience.

Before the training at 3pm, participants will be able to explore an exhibition of emergency response vehicles, equipment and resources used by Civil Protection authorities and partner associations. The display offers the public a chance to meet emergency professionals and gain a better understanding of how different agencies work together during rescue and emergency operations.

This initiative intends to equip the public with essential skills that could prove crucial in the first few minutes of a medical emergency, when immediate intervention can significantly improve a person’s chance of survival.

The event involves the collaboration of several organisations, including the Municipal Civil Protection of Albufeira, the National Institute for Medical Emergencies (INEM), the Albufeira Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Portuguese Red Cross delegation of Silves and Albufeira, the National Republican Guard (GNR), the National Maritime Authority, the National Maritime Police, the Municipal Police, the Albufeira Lifeguards Association and EuroService.

Furthermore, representatives will be on site to provide demonstrations, answer questions and share practical advice on responding safely and effectively in emergency situations.
