"This evolution reflects the slowdown in the growth of trips within the national territory (an increase of 3.4%, after 12.8% in the previous quarter), which totalled 4.6 million (83.4% of total trips), and the acceleration in the growth of trips to foreign destinations (an increase of 30.0%; 15.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025), totalling 923,800 trips (16.6% of the total)," details the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

In the last quarter of last year, travel by residents in Portugal had increased by 13.2% year-on-year.
