The results come from a Pitagórica poll for TVI/CNN, which reveals that the PS received more votes from respondents (27.9 per cent), compared with Chega (27.1 per cent), which would remain the second-largest political force, pushing the AD, currently in government, into third place with 25.7 per cent of the vote.

The poll shows a reversal of the last general election results, although the margins of error indicate a technical tie. Nevertheless, 58 per cent of those surveyed give the Government a negative rating, while 65 per cent believe that Luís Neves should not continue as Minister for Internal Administration.

Prime Minister receives negative rating

Luís Montenegro faces the worst news, having fallen by six percentage points compared with the 2024 general election results. This result appears linked to negative reactions towards the Government, also highlighted in the poll. More specifically, the Prime Minister receives 59 per cent negative reactions; nevertheless, 62 per cent of respondents believe that Luís Montenegro will serve out his term in office.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have cause for celebration, particularly the PS, which has moved up from third place to take the top spot. Chega, whilst remaining in second place, would also see an increase in its share of the vote.
