The event takes place on 12 and 13 September, offering a rare opportunity to explore sites that are not normally accessible to the public.

This year’s programme includes 74 locations in Lisbon and ten neighbouring municipalities: Almada, Amadora, Loures, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.

Visitors can discover everything from Roman villas and factories to medieval houses, caves, convents and historic fountains, revealing different periods in the region’s past.

Activities include a visit to a Roman factory beside the Tagus River and a tour of the Roman villa at Quinta da Bolacha, both on 12 September.

The programme also includes a guided visit to the medieval house of Torre de Cima and its cultural collections, as well as a walking route between Rua da Judiaria and São João da Praça on 13 September.

Open House Arqueologia is organised by the Museu de Lisboa – Teatro Romano. Although all activities are free, advance registration is required and some visits are already fully booked.
